About the Client

Devil’s Lake State Park is located in Baraboo, Wisconsin, and is Wisconsin’s most popular state park with about 3 million visitors per year. The over 10,000-acre park anchors more than 27,000 acres of parkland and natural areas open to public recreation in Sauk County. Historically Devil’s Lake or “De Wakacak”, which means Spirit Lake, sits on ancestral Ho-Chunk land and contains ancient effigy mounds that are part of their cultural heritage.

Project Goals:
  • Create an updated, reader friendly park map guides visitors and incorporates rich natural colors and clean lines. A true dual-purpose work of art made of three large acrylic panels aligned together, creating a stunning full wall image.
  • Develop a visual educational tour through Devil’s Lake’s rich history. Inspire feelings of nostalgia and a timeless love of nature. These acrylic pieces are a chronological display of period photos using a combination of acrylic and vinyl lettering to convey pertinent information while adding dimension and depth to the piece.
  • Both installations have a complementary natural color palette, lending the entire Visitor Center a warm and inviting atmosphere, while still maintaining each piece’s own integrity as stand-alone works.
