Digital Press Operator- 1st Shift

Position Overview

Econoprint is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented 1st Shift Digital Press Operator to operate HP Indigo digital presses, production copiers, wide-format equipment, and related finishing equipment. This role is responsible for producing accurate, high-quality work, completing routine equipment maintenance, and supporting production needs across the department.

The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, basic computer proficiency, and effective troubleshooting skills. Previous digital printing or production experience is preferred, but we are willing to train a motivated candidate with the right skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate HP Indigo digital presses in accordance with job specifications, quality standards, and production schedules.
• Operate black-and-white and full-color production copiers.
• Operate wide-format printers and related finishing equipment as needed.
• Operate finishing equipment, including cutters, folders, booklet makers, and hand-finishing tools.
• Review job tickets and production specifications to ensure each project is produced accurately.
• Perform quality checks throughout production and take corrective action when necessary.
• Complete routine and preventive maintenance on digital presses and production copier equipment, including cleaning sensors, changing blankets and PIPs, clearing paper jams, and replacing approved parts or assemblies.
• Troubleshoot routine equipment and production issues and escalate service needs when appropriate.
• Monitor consumable and supply levels and communicate replenishment needs to the Production Manager before shortages occur.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Support other production and finishing functions as workload demands require.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn print-production software and equipment interfaces.
• Ability to read and follow job tickets, production specifications, and written procedures.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet production deadlines.
• Dependable attendance and ability to work the assigned first-shift schedule, including occasional weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience operating HP Indigo digital presses, production copiers, wide-format equipment, or similar print-production equipment.
• Previous experience in a commercial printing, manufacturing, or production environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and move throughout the production area for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently lift and load paper or materials weighing 5–10 pounds.
• Ability to occasionally lift and move machine parts or assemblies weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to occasionally lift and stock paper weighing up to 65 pounds.
• Ability to bend, reach, grasp, and perform repetitive tasks associated with operating and maintaining production equipment.

Schedule & Compensation

• Full-time (37+ hours per week), first-shift position.
• Typical schedule is approximately 5:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.; start and end times may vary based on production needs.
• Occasional weekend work may be required.
